The project
Explore history where it happened
Echoes of Revolution brings the world of Assassin’s Creed into the streets of Boston and New York City. Created by Sugar Creative with Ubisoft, the free mobile experiences invite people to discover revolutionary history in the places where it unfolded.
Rather than following a story on a screen at home, visitors walk through the city and use their phones to reveal scenes from the past. Historical storytelling, augmented reality and exploration connect the game world with real streets and landmarks.
Two cities, distinct stories
In Boston, the experience was developed with Revolutionary Spaces, with support from T-Mobile’s T-Innovate team. In New York City, Sugar worked with the Gotham Center for New York City History. These partnerships bring local historical expertise to the experiences.
The experience
Connect a fictional world with real places
Developed under official licence from Ubisoft, the experiences draw on Assassin’s Creed to introduce audiences to the history around them. Niantic Spatial’s Visual Positioning System helps anchor digital content to physical locations.
The project combines cultural storytelling with the appeal of an established entertainment world, giving visitors an active role in discovering the past.
